Improving Two Results in Multiple Testing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Two known results in multiple testing, one relating to the directional error control of augmented step-down procedure proved by Shaffer (1980) and the other on the monotonicity of the critical values of step-up procedure proved by Dalal and Mallows (1992), are revisited and improved in this article. Shaffer’s result on the directional error control property of augmented step-down procedure with independent test statistics is improved by relaxing the sufficient conditions; whereas, the improvement of Dalal and Mallows’ result on the increasing property of the critical values of step-up procedure with independent test statistics is made by establishing it for generalized step-up-step-down procedure.

A scalarization-based method for multiple part-type scheduling of two-machine robotic systems with non-destructive testing technologies
This paper analyzes the performance of a robotic system with two machines in which machines are configured in a circular layout and produce non-identical parts repetitively. The non-destructive testing (NDT) is performed by a stationary robotic arm located in the center of the circle, or a cluster tool. The robotic arm integrates multiple tasks, mainly the NDT of the part and its transition bet...
متن کاملP 4: The Hypothesis Detect Multiple Sclerosis in Early Stage with Saliva Testing
Introduction: Recent studies point to the clinical and research efficacy of saliva as a respected diagnostic aid for observing Multiple Sclerosis. The objectives of this Hypothesis are to identify novel biomarkers recognized to Multiple Sclerosis in early stage in saliva and to determine if the levels of these markers correlate with level of these Cerebrospinal fluid and blood assays and urine ...
متن کاملPartial Knowledge in Multiple-Choice Testing
The intent of this study was to discover the nature of (partial) knowledge as estimated by the multiple-choice (MC) test method. An MC test of vocabulary, including 20 items, was given to 10 participants. Each examinee was required to think aloud while focusing on each item before and while making a response. After each test taker was done with each item, s/he was ...
متن کاملEVALUATION OF CONCRETE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH USING ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK AND MULTIPLE LINEAR REGRESSION MODELS
In the present study, two different data-driven models, artificial neural network (ANN) and multiple linear regression (MLR) models, have been developed to predict the 28 days compressive strength of concrete. Seven different parameters namely 3/4 mm sand, 3/8 mm sand, cement content, gravel, maximums size of aggregate, fineness modulus, and water-cement ratio were considered as input variables...
متن کاملNew Approach in Fitting Linear Regression Models with the Aim of Improving Accuracy and Power
The main contribution of this work lies in challenging the common practice of inferential statistics in the realm of simple linear regression for attaining a higher degree of accuracy when multiple observations are available, at least, at one level of the regressor variable. We derive sufficient conditions under which one can improve the accuracy of the interval estimations at quite affordable ...
متن کاملInvestigating the Effect of Changing Answers in Multiple-Choice Questions of Reading and Listening Tests in EFL Context
This study investigates whether the practice of answer changing on multiple-choice questions (MCQs) is beneficial for Iranian students’ overall test performance in EFL context. Several studies have shown that answer changing in multiple choice examinations is generally beneficial for improving scores. On the other hand, some studies have indicated that answer changing in multiple choice examina...
